Hi there. My name is Maria Wendt and I'm a designer, educator and influencer for female entrepreneurs.

And today we're gonna be answering that time old question, "Do you need a website to make money? Do you need a website to get clients?"

I get asked this question all the time and we see it a lot in the female entrepreneurship industry. And I think it's a good question, right? You know, do I need a website to make money? Well, as you know, I am a brand strategist. I'm a brand designer. So I'm not going to be biased but I'm gonna tell you what I really think.

And my answer is probably gonna surprise you actually. All right the question is, "Do you need a website to make money?"

And the answer to that question actually is, "No, you don't need a website to make money."

Right? You don't need a website to make money. And that's a surprising answer coming from someone that creates websites for a living.

But here's the thing, if the question is, "Do you need a website to make money?" Then I would say, "No."

But I think at a deeper level what people are really asking is, "Do I need a website in order to help my business be more successful?" And if that's the question, then absolutely yes, you have to get a website.

You must have a website.

If you're interested in making short-term cash, then no you can probably throw something up in a Facebook group and get some clients, and make that short-term cash.

But if you're interested in building a long-term business? You're gonna need a website. If you're interested in being open to opportunities, like for exposure for example, by getting podcast interviews or being on TV, or being interviewed by an 'A' list entrepreneur, or doing collaborations with other successful business owners, or having a place to host all of the courses that you sell, or anything that you sell to be honest. It's so important to have a website for so many different reasons, if you're interested building a long-term business?

Some people are just in it to make some short-term cash. If that's you, you might not need a website. But if you're interested in building a long-term business that's around for the next five years, the next 10 years and you really want to start making consistent income rather than having sporadic months and you want to stop having to worrying about constantly posting Facebook groups, or Instagram to get clients. If you're really interested in building something that's gonna send you leads consistently every single month? Then yes, you absolutely have to have a website. A lot a times I use the example of, just to kinda show what you could be missing out on if you don't have a website, is I show them a picture of my inbox.

I take a screenshot of it and you'll see that every single week I have leads coming to me from my website. The same thing happens for a lot of my clients. You know, they have clients coming to them every single week through their website. That's not short-term cash, that's long-term consistent income from their business. And so if you're interested in, you know, making a quick buck here and there, maybe you don't need a website. You know, and that's why a lot a times people, that's where they buy into the myth that they don't need a website, is because they see people making short-term cash and they confuse that with owning a long-term business.

And if you're interested in really positioning yourself as an industry expert? You need a site.

If you're interested in looking like a professional? If you really want people to take you seriously and grow a consistent income? Then, yes. You should definitely have a website.

Because here's what a website can do for you. It's gonna send you consistent leads every single month. It's going to give you a place to host everything that you're selling. Right? So if you're selling passive income products, if you're selling online caching packages? If you're selling horses, or eBooks, or whatever? Anything you're selling, it's gonna be a place. It's gonna give people a way to learn more about you in a more professional environment than maybe your Facebook profile.

It's going to be a place to host your testimonials. Right? A lot a times what causes people to trust you or really believe in you are your testimonials. And so you've got to have a place for those to be hosted. An about page, people wanna know who they're working with and really ... Like an email list, right? You've gotta have to a place to put your email list, popping or whatever. For me, there's so many reasons to have a website. And for me in my own business and in a lot of my client's businesses, their website is the thing that consistently sends them clients every single week.

And so I personally can't fathom what my business would look like without a website.

And I think it's one of those things where you don't really know what you're missing until you have it. So until you have a website that's consistently sending you leads every single week, you don't know what you're missing. You don't know how nice that is. You don't know how secure that feels. You don't know how just comforting that is. You're not constantly being caught in that feast and famine cycle.

So to answer your question, "Do you need a website to make money?" No. But do you need a website to have a sustainable long-term business with consistent month to month income streams? Then, yes. Absolutely.
